Love Island sensation Tasha Ghouri has caught the attention of Strictly Come Dancing’s male pros, with some keen to work with her for the upcoming season.

It has been announced that the 26-year-old, who rose to fame as the show’s first deaf contestant and achieved a remarkable fourth place with partner Andrew Le Page on Love Island earlier this month, will take to the Strictly stage in September.

Not only is she a reality TV star and a groundbreaking model, she also hosts a podcast.

Now Tasha can showcase her illustrious dance career in the competition. Her impressive dance experience has already made her a top talent in the eyes of the male dancers on the show.

“She has all the qualities to win the competition, making her the first choice among the male professionals,” a source familiar with the show told The Sun.

However, there was fierce controversy over whether it was fair to include celebrities with a dancing background, and fans were upset about the perceived advantages.

Tasha addressed the criticism on social media, admitting that despite her past, she hasn’t danced for years and now works in a different profession, meaning adjusting to Strictly’s new dance styles will be a difficult proposition, reports the Mirror.

She wrote: “I haven’t danced for a few years, since Love Island my career has been very different. It’s such a different style of dance, maybe I’m actually not good at it, like ballet – I’m not good at ballet. I’m trained in commercial street style, it’s going to be very hard but I’m looking forward to a challenge.”

She had previously expressed her excitement about taking part in the show: “Pinch me, I can’t believe I’m going to be on Strictly Come Dancing.”

“I’ve been watching the show since I was little. It’s an absolute favorite of the Ghouri family, so this is a dream come true.”

Tasha’s comments follow the BBC’s announcement that Strictly Come Dancing is making major changes to its format for season 20. The season will feature live signing for the first time.

The new entry for the BBC programme was confirmed at the Edinburgh TV Festival earlier this week, along with a documentary by former Strictly winner Rose Ayling-Ellis, who made history as the show’s first deaf contestant.

The introduction of live singing, complete with audio description and subtitles, is intended to open up the show to a wider audience ahead of its expected return later this year.

“Strictly Come Dancing” will air on BBC One in September.
