Hawk Tuah girl reveals what she REALLY thinks about the infamous nickname after it became a viral meme

Haliey Welch, aka Hawk Tuah Girl, is ready to leave behind the role that made her a viral sensation.

The 22-year-old social media star, who rose to fame in June for his candid conversations about oral sex on TikTok, spoke about his nickname during his appearance on the dating show West Date Ever on Tuesday.

“We’re trying to stay away from that,” she admitted to host and Summer House star West Wilson. “I’d rather be known by my first name, not Ms. Hawk.”

Although she wants to distance herself from the label, Hailey is still eager to capitalize on her newfound fame.

“We’re moving toward podcasts and things like that,” she explained. “And a reality TV show, we’ve talked about that.”

When her date with Wilson was over, Welch admitted that it was “probably one of the best” she had ever experienced.

In another interview, Wilson expressed his desire to help Haliey leave the nickname “Hawk Tuah” behind.

“She was thrown into the spotlight almost against her will, so I wanted to make sure she knew I wasn’t there to hammer her viral meme into everyone’s head,” he told Page Six.

“Everyone has a story and I wanted to learn more about her and help her put Hawk Tuah behind her.”

In July, Haliey trademarked her signature phrase after becoming famous for giving sex tips on the streets of Nashville.

She formed her own company called 16 Minutes LLC and applied for full rights to use her sensational catchphrase on merchandise, including hats and t-shirts.

Documents obtained by DailyMail.com show that Welch is seeking a trademark for clothing items and entertainment services – namely comedy shows and podcasts about “comedy and current events.”

As a requirement for the submission, Welch also submitted an image of a beige and brown hat with her slogan “Hawk Tuah ’24. Spit On That Thing” written on it in red lettering. The hat was made in collaboration with Tennessee-based hat maker Fathead Threads.

“We’re trying to stay away from that,” she admitted to host and Summer House star West Wilson. “I’d rather be known by my first name, not Ms. Hawk.”

While Welch enjoyed giving sexual advice to millions of people, she kept her fans in the dark about the name of her company.

Based in Nashville, Tennessee, “16 Minutes LLC” is possibly a clever play on words about her attempts to gain more than just 15 minutes of fame following her viral interview.

The name of the new company could also be a reference to her life-changing quote: “You have to give it the hawk eye and spit on the thing, you know?”, which consists of 16 words.

According to TMZ, Welch and her management team plan to send cease and desist letters to retailers who attempt to use the “Hawk Tuah” logo on clothing to make a profit.

The filing, as well as her new venture, comes as a surprise after she told Brianna Lapaglia on the Plan Bri Uncut podcast that she was hesitant to be the “Hawk Tuah” girl forever.

On July 1, she announced that she had quit her job at the factory and hired management after her clip for Tim & Dee TV, in which she explains how to “drive a man crazy in bed,” was viewed over three million times on YouTube following its broadcast on June 19.

As a requirement for the submission, Welch also submitted an image of a beige and brown hat with her phrase “Hawk Tuah '24. Spit On That Thing” written in red, made in collaboration with Tennessee-based hat company Fathead Threads.

When asked what her parents thought of her viral comment, Welch replied, “They find it so funny… they never know what’s going to come out of my mouth.”

Welch initially isolated herself in rural Tennessee, where she lives with her family. Her friends and family built a protective wall around her to shield her from the public.

She explained that since coming into the spotlight, she has received “repulsive” offers from fans trying to reach her through the man she is partnered with to offer her special “Hawk Tuah” items.

She said, “Well, the guy who makes my hats was offered $600 three days ago to spit in a jar and sell it. That’s disgusting! That’s just disgusting, isn’t it?”

She joined Lapaglia, also known as “Brianna Chickenfry,” just two days after sharing the stage with Lapaglia’s boyfriend Zach Bryan at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium.

In the extensive interview, Welch confirmed that she had been drinking that evening, but that her comment was meant as a joke and that she “didn’t mean anything by it.”

The rising star was then asked which celebrity she has a crush on in a game called “Hawk Tuah or Nah”.

Lapaglia first asked Welch what she thought of her own boyfriend, the country singer, and advised her to “be careful.”

Welch and Chelsea Bradford, the friend standing next to her in the viral clip, both burst into laughter before telling Lapaglia, “I love you, but love you.”

The couple continued to show interest in Morgan Wallen. However, they did not recognize Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown.

They also didn’t recognize Dave Portnoy, the owner of Barstool Sports, at first, but after Lapaglia showed them a picture, they gave him a “hawk.”

Welch and Bradford also reacted cautiously when asked about professional boxer and YouTuber Jake Paul, but they immediately rejected the offer to get one over on former President Donald Trump.

Lapaglia then asked the internet sensation how she felt about being known as “Hawk Tuah Girl,” although Welch said she doesn’t want to be called that for the rest of her life.

Welch also refuted rumors about her and her family’s workplace. Online rumors initially said Welch was a teacher who was fired after the video was released and that her father was a preacher.

“I worked in a feather factory, I am not a teacher,” she said.

“My father is so far from being a preacher, it’s crazy.”

She said she quit her job after becoming famous and now plans to travel around the country and “perform on a show, be on a bunch of podcasts, and do everything in between.”
