PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A 39-year-old Westmoreland County man is accused of raping a girl, authorities said.

Randy Shipley was charged with rape, sexual battery, sexual assault and aggravated sexual assault under the age of 16 in connection with the incident, the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office said in a news release Tuesday.

The press release said Latrobe police began investigating allegations in February. Officers were called to a Latrobe apartment after a teenage girl told police she had been raped by Shipley.

“The victim alleged that Shipley forced her to drink alcohol before allegedly sexually assaulting her,” the press release said.

Police spoke with Shipley, who denied the allegations, the news release said. Prosecutors said in the news release that when police asked Shipley if he thought his DNA could be found on the victim’s clothing, he replied, “Not at all” and “Not even a one percent chance.”

The press release said that based on the evidence received, the crime lab concluded that Shipley was a likely match and filed charges accordingly.
