Update: Girl found in Flint identified by police, no evidence she was abducted from Detroit

Flint police believe a young girl’s statement that she was kidnapped in Detroit may be false, as the incident appears to have raised more questions than answers.

Investigators now say she has been identified and that she and her parents live in Flint. Child Protective Services is involved in the investigation. She had claimed she was kidnapped from a McDonald’s in Detroit.

“We have just confirmed the identity of this young girl and there is now no reason to believe she was recently in the Detroit area,” Flint police wrote on their Facebook page. “We are currently contacting her parents who live in Flint and Child Protective Services is still involved in the process.”

Flint police thanked the public for their help.
