Monte Lamar Henrie, Sr.: 1939 – 2024

Monte Lamar Henrie, Sr., 85, of Casper, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, surrounded by his family.

He was born on February 14, 1939, in Jackson, Wyoming, to the late Wayne L. and Barbara Henrie. The family moved to Casper in 1944, where he graduated from NCHS in 1957. After graduating from Casper College, he attended the University of Denver and the University of Wyoming, graduating in 1976.

On August 27, 1961, he married Cynthia Ann Coleman in Denver, Colorado, and in 1963 moved back to Casper where he established his piano and voice studio. During these years he also served as the Minister of Music of the First Baptist Church and later the First Presbyterian for nearly 25 years. He is also known as the founder and director of the Casper Comic Opera Company, which performed works of Gilbert and Sullivan, The Victorian Players, a dinner theater of melodramas followed by olio sketches, and the Tenderfoot Traveling Troupe, which was an offshoot of the Natrona County Schools summer theater course. After retiring from piano teaching and summer theater classes, he spent the next few years as a seasonal interpreter/guide at the Battle of the Little Bighorn National Monument and also taught community education and OLLI courses at Casper College on the Indian Wars.

Monte was a man of varied interests and talents. In his youth he worked on his grandfather’s ranch, the VT, and on other ranches in Converse County. In retirement he visited many Civil War battlefields, rode steam trains, attended theater, opera and symphony performances, and took several Road Scholar courses throughout the country.

In addition to his wife, Cynthia, Monte is survived by three children: Monte Henrie Jr., Mariellen (MarKay) Elmore, both of Casper, and Shawna Hibbler of Cheyenne; four grandchildren: Cole and Will Hibbler, Anthony and Michael Elmore; and his favorite granddaughter, Jocelyn Weckwerth. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Paxton and Gavin Elmore, and four great-granddaughters, Ellie Jean and Winnie Weckwerth, Addison and Mira Elmore. He was predeceased by his parents, Barbara and Wayne Henrie, and his brother, Steve.

Dennis James Peterson: 1954 – 2024

Dennis J. Peterson, 70, of Casper passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 26, 2024, after a two-year battle with cancer.

He was born on January 1, 1954 in Siren, Wisconsin to Anton and JoAnn Peterson and had the honor of being the first baby born in the area that year. He spent the next eighteen years of his life in Webster, Wisconsin where he enjoyed helping his many uncles on their farms, hunting and fishing.

Denny met his future wife at Webster Jr. High School, married one year to the day after graduating, and shortly thereafter moved to White Bear Lake, Minnesota, where they raised two daughters.

Denny worked in a factory in his early years, but was laid off year after year and needed a steady income for his family. So he began working for the Minnesota Department of Corrections, where he started as a guard and worked his way up to Fugitive Sergeant. He was well-liked and respected by his superiors, his coworkers, and the inmates. He proudly served the state for 31 years before retiring in July 2014.

In 2022, Denny and Pat moved to Casper as the mountains had been calling them for a long time. Although moving from their four-bedroom house to a condo was quite a “move,” they have enjoyed their new home, met so many wonderful people, and made many new friends. Casper felt like home from the minute we arrived. We were able to travel a bit to see the sights of Wyoming, and we really enjoyed visiting Big Sky, Montana, Yellowstone National Park, and spending winters in Florida.

Denny was always a “caregiver” who looked after his parents, brother and mother-in-law and did whatever he could to help them. He was a kind, generous man who did whatever was needed to make others comfortable. More than anything, he loved being “Daddy.” So many beautiful memories were created with his five grandchildren.

Denny is survived by his wife of 51 years, Pat; his daughters, Teri (Brandon Byers) Eskuri and Melissa (Rino) Nazal; his grandchildren, Kaitlin and Jae Eskuri, Cameron, Amelia and Lauren Nazal; his brother, Jerry and sister, Lori (Marvin) Johnson; many uncles, aunts and cousins; and numerous friends he has met over the years.

A small celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 5th at 1 p.m. at the Bustard and Jacoby Funeral Home, 600 CY Ave, Casper, Wyoming. Another celebration will be held at a later date in Minnesota.

We would like to thank the staff at Rocky Mountain Oncology and Central Wyoming Hospice for helping us along the way.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in his name to the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society, Central Wyoming Hospice, conservation groups, or the national parks.

Tina Marie Waters: 1962 – 2024

Tina Marie Waters, age 61, a vibrant soul and beloved mother, passed away on August 26, 2024 in her hometown of Casper, Wyoming. Born December 16, 1962, Tina lived a life filled with laughter, charm and an undeniable joy for life that left a remarkable impression on all who knew her.

For years, Tina brought her infectious humor and magnetic personality to KGWC and KFNB TV, where she proudly served as Sales Manager for 15 years. She excelled as the top monthly Sales Manager for 22 months over a two-year period, a testament to her passion and drive. Eventually, the contest was discontinued because everyone knew who would win. Such prowess in her career was not only a professional accomplishment, but also a source of immense pride.

Tina’s life wasn’t all about work; it was filled with treasured memories and hobbies that reflected her larger-than-life presence. She enjoyed playful adventures, from Hawaiian vacations with Fox TV stars and network executives to trips that often found her creatively digging through dumpsters to search for one-of-a-kind treasures. She could always be found with a keen eye for exquisite finds, a mischievous smile, and unwavering love for her beloved Chihuahuas. She was addicted to shopping, credit cards, and leaving her husband with the bills “until the banks do us part.” She also enjoyed crocheting, riding motorcycles, and getting her nails done.

Her home was an oasis of warmth, laughter, and the tantalizing aroma of her questionable cinnamon rolls—although her friends knew she was more skilled at baking bread and hammering out glass candies.

A devoted mother – especially to her son “Markie,” whom she affectionately called her “golden child” – her children and grandchildren were her greatest accomplishments. Tina fulfilled her duty and made sure Casper was fully populated by giving birth to 12 children and grandchildren. She cherished her relationship with Mark, her biggest supporter, as well as the bonds she had with her daughters Lacey Hancock (Tyson Peterson) and Brandi (Kyle) Mills, and her sons Charles “Markie” Nalbone (Bryn Gabrielson) and KC Hancock. Her heart overflowed with joy for her grandchildren: Shelbee, Kaylee, Bradlee, Damien, Devin, Dayton, Kameron, Laila and Kamdyn. She took pure pleasure in spoiling them with sweet treats, especially wrapping sugary snacks that filled their days with giggles and fun.

Tina’s love also extended to her family, including her sister Mary and brother Gail. With her passing, she leaves behind a legacy of laughter and adventure that will resonate in the warm memories of her loved ones.

Although Tina’s parents and her brother, Charles Waters, predeceased her, the light she radiated remains in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Her life was a tapestry of love, laughter and unforgettable moments that we will cherish forever. As we remember Tina Marie Waters, we celebrate her boundless spirit, her tireless devotion to family and the joy she brought to our lives, leaving an echo of laughter that will never fade.
