Finecut brings ‘A Girl With Closed Eyes’ with ‘Pachinko’ star Minha Kim at the helm | News

South Korea’s Finecut secures international distribution rights A girl with her eyes closeda thriller directed by Minha Kim from Apple TV+ series Pachinkobefore its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF).

The sales agent will show the first footage to international buyers in Toronto next week. The film will premiere in October in the Korean Cinema Today section of BIFF.

The upcoming feature film is about a murder suspect and a detective with a shared past who are brought back together by the murder of a best-selling author. As the investigation progresses, hidden truths come to light.

It is the feature film debut of director Chun Sunyoung, whose short film Good night was played at the Cannes Critics’ Week in 2022.

Kim, who is best known for her role as young Sunja in Pachinkotakes on the role of the suspect accused of murdering a famous writer and insists he was her kidnapper in 2002.

The detective, an old friend of the suspect and determined to uncover the truth, is played by Moon Choi, who, among other things, Deliver us from evil, Okja And Anarchist from the colony.

The film is presented by Solaire Partners, a venture capital firm that has backed blockbusters such as Parasite, Extremjob, 12.12: The Day And Next Sohee.

In Toronto, Fincut will also present upcoming films, including Hong Sangsoo’s At the streamwhich premiered in competition at Locarno and will be shown in the Centrepiece strand at TIFF; and Noisean upcoming horror thriller about a woman haunted by unexplained noises. The film is set to premiere in the Sitges Panorama competition after having its market premiere at Toronto Industry Select.
