Zeekr’s new electric vehicle supports 5.5C ultra-fast charging at the world’s “fastest rate”

Zeekr’s new 007 electric sedan is equipped with the company’s state-of-the-art lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries and supports 5.5C ultra-fast charging, enabling charging from 10 to 80 percent SoC in just 10.5 minutes.

Thanks to optimized materials and improved technology, the speed is higher than existing nickel-cobalt-manganese batteries and, according to the automaker, represents a new achievement of Zeekr’s in-house research and development team for electric drives.

Zeekr also adds that its improved battery management system (BMS) ensures that vehicle charging remains stable and fast even in harsh environmental conditions.

At temperatures as low as -10 degrees Celsius, the vehicles are charged from 10 to 80 percent SoC in just 30 minutes, guaranteeing users fast and reliable charging performance.

Currently, the Geely-owned global electric vehicle brand has opened over 500 ultra-fast charging stations in China with over 2,700 charging piles, all supporting 800V charging.

Zeekr plans to expand the network to 1,000 ultra-fast charging stations in 2024 and will operate over 10,000 ultra-fast charging stations in 2026.

The company has also equipped its 001 and 007 electric vehicles with enhanced driver assistance features that are currently among the best in the Chinese industry.

Zeekr leverages Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) and has its own battery technologies, battery management systems, electric motor technologies and electric vehicle supply chain. The brand has announced plans to sell vehicles in European, Latin American and other Asian markets and has an ambitious rollout plan for the next 5 years to meet the rapidly growing global demand for electric vehicles.
