LaGrange Water and White Oak officials ask residents to conserve water

COLBERT CO., Alabama (WAFF) – Officials with the Lagrange Water Authority and White Oak Township are urging residents to conserve water.

They suspect that there might be a burst water pipe somewhere, but they cannot find it because the ground absorbs the water very quickly.

The last time the tanks were checked, they were 50 percent full. There was no water left in the tank on Monday evening until Leighton and the county delivered more water this way.

However, the two water companies helping them will have to shut off the water supply sometime on Tuesday.

Firefighters from the White Oak Volunteer Department will be at their station until 8 p.m. Tuesday with a water buffalo and water bottles provided to them by the Tennessee Valley Authority, so if you need water, bring your jerry cans or pick up water bottles there.

Authorities are also currently asking that no one burn their lawn. If a fire were to occur in the area, it could drain the tank. However, authorities added that there is no need to worry as two fire departments are on standby and a neighbor has allowed the White Oak Fire Department to use their pond if needed.
