Instagram now allows you to add text over photos; other new features

Meta is constantly adding new features to encourage creators’ creativity on Instagram, and the latest options aim to expand the possibilities for making your posts stand out from the crowd. Among the new features, the ability to add text over photos directly from the Instagram editor seems particularly useful.

In a recent blog post, Meta revealed that Instagram is getting some new options for posting content. Creators will now find a wider range of effects, fonts, and animated text to add to their Reels and Stories. They can also overlay text on top of an image before posting it to the feed without having to resort to external editors. In addition, the company highlights that carousels now allow up to 20 photos.

More fonts and animations for Reels and Stories; add text from the Instagram editor to photos

Starting with Reels and Stories, the additional fonts are available through the “Text” button that appears when you edit a new one. You can choose from several additional animations and fonts to write whatever you want on your image/video. As for feed posts, you can now easily add text to images using the Instagram editor. This makes a process that previously required using third-party image editors much easier.

The platform has made sure to provide enough fonts so that everyone can find the one that best suits their style. Stickers also allow you to overlay another image on top of the main image. Image stickers for posts come in different shapes, such as a square, circle, heart, or star. Similar options were previously available for Reels and Stories, but now you can use them for regular feed posts as well.

Carousels can now contain up to 20 images

Finally, with the new limit of 20 images per post, carousels make more sense. Previously, you could only add up to 4 photos per post, so the option is now much more versatile. The new limit opens up new ways to share your most precious moments.

Don’t worry if the new features aren’t available in your app yet. Meta’s new options are usually rolled out gradually, so not everyone gets them at the same time. You’ll just have to wait a few days to finally be able to use them.
