Hollow Knight Silksong MIA at Nintendo Direct; fans express frustration

Tell me, didn’t you have a single percent hope in your heart to learn the release date for Hollow Knight Silksong today? Well, you’re not alone. Ever since the sequel was revealed nearly five years ago, we’ve all been waiting for the day when the princess and protector of the ruins of Hallownest finally makes another announcement. It seems that’s not happening yet, as another Nintendo Direct leaves every Hollow Knight Silksong fan dejected after it remains MIA.

While some were already expecting the heartbreak, it is still absurd how we no information about a game revealed in 2019We have gotten a few hints here and there. Xbox has also announced that Game Pass will soon send the Hornet on a new journey. But we have not found when the trip will start.

As we watch endless Nintendo Directs and other events like Gamescom, we are now in the year 2024. And with the latest Nintendo Direct event, fans are starting to express their frustration as Hollow Knight Silksong’s release date is still shrouded in mystery.

Frustration continues to grow after Silksong remains in the shadows

Well, the frustration isn’t new as fans are losing patience. It’s been 5 years since we first got a glimpse of the new Hollow Knight game. Before the Nintendo Direct in August, fans were praying that this would finally be the time for the reveal. Some even shared a slot machine meme where we never get the match and ultimately never get a Silksong announcement.

However, after sitting through an Indie World showcase and a partner showcase at Nintendo Direct for a total of about 40 minutes, I closed the event stream tab with great disappointment and a *sigh*. Some popular X accounts, including Opera GX, shared their disappointment, saying: “something, no Silksong on Nintendo Direct, …”

This is not wrong. It seems that at every game reveal event, Hollow Knight Silksong is used as bait to grab viewers’ attention. The companies understand the love for Hollow Knight and even if there are no new developments, they will somehow keep viewers watching just out of anticipation.

We see a lot of new game reveals and even when they’re good, they fade away due to the hype and the wait for Silksong’s (alleged) announcement. Fans are officially using protagonist Hornet’s clown face as a meme.

One of the X users even made a post claiming that the release date of Silksong was leaked on the Nintendo eShop. Although there are no official confirmations, it will upset some fans as they will have to deal with the fact that the release date is not yet known.

In our Hollow Knight: Silksong release date prediction, we predicted that it would 1st quarter 2025. So if all goes well, there should be an announcement soon. But for now, let’s all get over it together. Were you also happy to see a new announcement for Silksong? Tell us about it in the comments below.
