FAIRMONT, West Virginia. – A Texas man who allegedly kidnapped an underage girl from Kentucky remains in jail in West Virginia after his arrest over the weekend in Marion County.

Marion County 911 dispatch said they received two 911 calls from the same phone at the BFS store in Kingmont on Saturday night, but were unable to properly understand the caller because he was speaking Spanish. Operators called dispatch, received a description of the vehicle and relayed the information to officers.

A short time later, officers stopped a vehicle driven by 30-year-old Jhoan Requena-Carrion and confirmed through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that the minor girl in his vehicle was a runaway or missing person from Lexington, Kentucky.

During the traffic stop, officers learned that the child’s father had reported her missing earlier that day.

Requena-Carrion told deputies that the child’s mother asked him to drive her to Philadelphia, but the father refused, saying he knew of no plan and that his daughter never agreed to go with him.

Requena-Carrion, who authorities said has an address in Texas, is being held by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services without bail at the North Central Regional Jain.
