Post Malone raves about his friendship with Dolly Parton in a sweet photo shoot

Sometimes a dream becomes a wish come true. That’s certainly the case for Post Malone, who shared a video on Monday (August 26) of himself playfully snuggling up to his duet partner: country icon Dolly Parton. “I don’t have the heart to break yours @DollyParton,” the rapper-turned-country singer captioned the X-post, which accompanies a nine-second clip of the dynamic duo exchanging smiles during a photoshoot.

With the clicking of the camera shutter heard in the background, Malone, 29, first strikes a silly pose with his arms wide open while Parton, 78, leans her head on his chest with a big smile on her face. “You’re incredible, I’m so… I can’t believe it, my heart is beating so fast,” Malone says to his musical heroine Parton, who changes position, takes Posty’s hands and positions them so that he hugs her around the waist from behind as the photographer bursts into loud laughter.

Parton posted an Instagram video of the sweet meet-cute two weeks ago, writing, “@postmalone has always said nice things about me and I’ve always appreciated that. He has such a big heart.” In the video, Malone tells Parton, “Whatever you need from me in the whole world, I’m here,” as the two joke around, with Dolly tugging on Post’s baseball cap and complaining that it’s too tall as he crouches down to look her in the eyes. Malone is legendarily polite, repeatedly saying “Yes ma’am” as the two make small talk, with Dolly recalling seeing a picture of a tailored suit Malone wore in 2019 covered in images of the country superstar.

In the song’s lyric video, Malone flips through a lot of Parton memorabilia, including a Dolly pinball machine from 1979.

The look of pure joy on Malone’s face in the images (see below) at this moment is palpable and he has good reason to be excited. His debut country LP, F-1 billiondebuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 (as of August 31), grossing 250,000 album-equivalent units in its first week, according to Luminate; the album is also Posty’s first No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart.

In addition, all 18 songs from the standard edition – including all 15 collaborations – landed on the Billboard Hot 100, led by the former six-week No. 1 hit with Morgan Wallen, “I Had Some Help” at No. 2.
