Power outages and “severe” restrictions on electricity supply could last for another one to two weeks across Ukraine following the previous day’s mass Russian strike that damaged energy infrastructure, Ivan Plachkov, president of the All-Ukrainian Energy Assembly, said in comments on Kyiv24 television on August 27.

Russia launched what the Ukrainian Air Force said was the largest attack on Ukraine since the start of the large-scale invasion on August 26, hitting 15 oblasts across the country. The attack damaged energy infrastructure, killed seven civilians and injured 47 others.

Plachkov, the former energy minister, spoke of “one of the most massive attacks on the energy infrastructure” with the aim of causing “a total blackout in the energy system”.
