6 resources City College students can add to their survival guide – City Times

The fall 2024 semester at San Diego City College has begun and taking classes has not become any cheaper.

For example, according to City College’s Student Accounting Office, nonresident tuition for the fall 2024 semester increased from $331 to $356, an increase of $25.

Often $25 makes the difference between whether a student can afford a meal or not.

City College offers a number of services and amenities to its students. Here are six that can help you save money this semester.

Digital giveaways

Just having a San Diego City College student email address gives you access to a number of benefits. All students receive a free subscription to Microsoft Office 365 as well as discounts on various online services, including Spotify and Amazon Prime.

Center for Basic Needs

The Basic Needs Center offers several services in the T Building. Here, students can get free lunches from the Knight’s Food Table Pantry, get free reused clothing at Knight’s Threads and Things, and even get a free haircut at Fresh Cutz with proof of the FAFSA application.

library

The library in the R building offers students more than just books and a quiet study area. Books and laptops are available to borrow. Students also receive a free subscription to the New York Times.

The Tutorial/Learning Center

The Tutorial/Learning Center provides free tutoring for various courses to all City College students throughout the day. In addition, online tutoring is available to students seven days a week.

You can find out which subjects are offered on the TLC website. You can also make an appointment in person at L-205.

Programs and services to support people with disabilities

Disability support programs and services can help students with learning disabilities get the support they need. Students can receive extra time for tests, isolated testing environments, and lecture support through their services.

You can register for services online or in person at A-112.

Student Health Center

The Student Health Center in A-180 offers students a range of basic medical services, including free nurse visits and psychological counseling.
