Russia’s airstrike on Ukraine on August 26 cost $1.26 billion
The airstrike on Ukraine on August 26 cost Russia around $1.26 billion.
According to calculations by Ekonomichna Pravda (EP):
On the morning of August 26, Russian forces launched operations against Ukraine:
- 109 Shahed-136/131 combat drones;
- 77 X-101 cruise missiles;
- 3 X-22 cruise missiles;
- 28 sea-based cruise missiles of the Kalibr type;
- 6 Iskander-M ballistic missiles;
- 3 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles;
- 10 guided missiles type Kh-59/Kh-69.
The Shahed-136/131 drones can cost between $49,000 if produced in Russia and up to $290,000 if imported from Iran. Assuming the average import price from Iran – $193,000 – the total cost of 109 Shahed drones is about $21.3 million.
The cost of one Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missile is $10 million, so the three missiles cost a total of $30 million.
The value of the X-22 cruise missiles is $1 million each, so the total value for three missiles is $3 million.
The cost of the X-101 rockets is $13 million each, bringing the total cost of all 77 rockets to $1 billion.
According to Defence Express, one Kalibr missile costs $6.5 million, making the total cost for 28 missiles $182 million.
The price of the Kh-59/Kh-69 guided missiles is $0.5 million each, so the total cost of 10 missiles is $5 million.
The Iskander-M ballistic missiles can cost $3 million each, making a total of $18 million for the six missiles.
Thus, the total expenditure for the Russian morning attack on August 26 amounts to about $1.26 billion.
