Election day in Nahant lasts a week

NAHANT — Early voting for the The primaries will take place every day this week at City Hall.

Saturday, August 24, was the deadline to register for the election, which officially takes place on Tuesday, September 3. Absentee ballots can be submitted any time up until Election Day, and Monday was the last day to register for early absentee voting.

From Tuesday to Thursday this week, you can cast your vote in person anytime between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. The voting window on Friday also starts at 9 a.m. but closes at 12.30 p.m. Polling stations will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on election day.

City Clerk Diane Dunfee explained that residents who have registered to vote by mail at the state and federal level will also receive ballots for the city in the future.

Deputy City Clerk and Elections Director Carol Nelson explained her duties during the election process.

“I oversee the election. I handle any disputes with voters who may not be up to date or may not even be registered here,” Nelson said. “I handle anyone who does something they shouldn’t be doing.”
