The folks at Sweetwater have released the following new video and explain: “On the occasion of the release of his new blues album, Slash talks all things collaboration, defying expectations, and exploring his blues guitar roots in this interview. Check it out!”

Orgy Of The Damned, Slash’s star-studded blues album and the sixth solo album of his career, is a vibrant tribute to the blues. It is a collection of 12 dynamic songs that reinvigorate the blues in a stripped-down, essential way. In the spirit of collaboration, Slash personally selected the album’s diverse guest vocalists for Orgy Of The Damned, including Gary Clark Jr., Billy F. Gibbons, Chris Stapleton, Dorothy, Iggy Pop, Paul Rodgers, Demi Lovato, Brian Johnson, Tash Neal, Chris Robinson and Beth Hart. The acclaimed guitarist reteamed with producer Mike Clink and reunited with two of his bandmates from his ’90s Blues Ball band, bassist Johnny Griparic and keyboardist Teddy ‘ZigZag’ Andreadis; and he brought in drummer Michael Jerome and singer/guitarist Tash Neal to complete his blues band in the studio and on tour.

Orgy Of The Damned was all played live in the hall, with an emphasis on improvisation, resulting in a collection of high-energy songs that are vibrant and raw. Highlights include “Oh Well,” featuring the raspy vocals of outlaw country star Chris Stapleton on the beloved early Peter Green/Fleetwood Mac song, and the Howlin’ Wolf-penned first single “Killing Floor,” an electrifying collaboration with AC/DC’s Brian Johnson on vocals and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler on harmonica. “Hoochie Coochie Man” – written by Willie Dixon and made famous by Muddy Waters – showcases the album’s spontaneity and unbridled energy, with ZZ Top’s Billy F. Gibbons filling in on guitar and vocals, Gary Clark Jr. joining for a wild version of Robert Johnson’s “Crossroads,” and Beth Hart wowing with a twangy and soulful rendition of T. Bone Walker’s “Stormy Monday.” Some of the songs, such as Steppenwolf’s “The Pusher,” Charlie Segar’s “Key To The Highway,” and Albert King’s “Born Under A Bad Sign,” were played by Slash’s Blues Ball, while others, such as Stevie Wonder’s “Living For The City,” were long-time Slash favorites.
