Lainey Wilson is having the time of her life this summer! On the one hand, she is preparing for the highly anticipated release of her fifth studio album, Whirlwindwhich premiered on Friday, August 23. On the other hand, she uses her Southern accent and trademark wit to take down Instagram trolls – and her fans love it.
On Monday, August 19, Lainey posted a response to a fan’s comment on Instagram in a tan baseball cap and navy tracksuit, reminding people everywhere why they love her in the first place.
“She dances better than she sings. Maybe she should stick with that,” commented an Instagram troll named Johnny.
Instead of ignoring him, Lainey decided to punctuate his rude remarks with a little comedy. “I’m just giving ol’ Johnny Boy what he wants,” Lainey captioned her hilarious dance video, which many are comparing to Raygun’s polarizing performance at the Paris Olympics.
“Please respond to all mean comments with this sass,” one fan commented. “Napoleon (Dynamite) vibes are high,” wrote another. “You could definitely be a contender for the gold medal in breakdancing at the 2028 Olympics,” joked another fan. “He must need a hearing aid!! Because (girl, you) can sing,” commented another. “Just when I thought I couldn’t love you more than I do. I’m head over heels in love,” wrote another fan.
We never wanted Instagram trolls, but there’s no denying that Lainey’s clever response has us hoping for more comedic clapback reels.
