Is Ryan Poles happy with his defensive line before the season opener?

USATSI 24019254 1

The deadline for teams to reduce their rosters to 53 for training camp is tomorrow at 3 p.m.

Matthew Judon’s dream in orange and blue is shattered. It would be unwise to get your hopes up for a Haason Reddick success, and the same goes for any idea that brings Khalil Mack back to Chicago.

Even though the Bears defense is primed to become one of the league’s best in 2024, there is still cause for concern on the defensive front.

Acquisition David Taylor from Seattle and Chris Williams from Cleveland, each for a sixth-round pick in 2024, adds necessary Depth, but the team should be happy with a rotation Montez welding?

  • Taylor must someone’s also in the squad. Is that Dominique Robinson? Daniel Hardy? The 27-year-old edge rusher certainly brings an interesting resume to Chicago. Taylor missed his rookie season after undergoing surgery to repair a broken leg and played three seasons with the Seahawks, missing one game and collecting 21.5 sacks. In 2022, Taylor forced four fumbles.
  • Williams greatest ability is his Availability. With Zacch Pickens broken, Matt Eberflus addressed the lack of depth at the defensive position after Thursday night’s win, saying, “He’s not as strong and deep as you would want him to be.” Less than 48 hours later, the Bears brought in Williams, a depth tackle who spent time in Indianapolis while Eberflus was defensive coordinator.
  • What does it look like as the deadline for roster submission approaches? Montez Sweat, DeMarcus Walker, Austin Bookerand Darrell Taylor feel like the only Castles from the side. If the team has five players, there is a place for Robinson, Hardy and an injured Jacob Martin.

Important fights and decisions before cut day

The NFL is a business. Recognizing that doesn’t make it any less bitter to see more than 1,000 players across the league lose their jobs. It’s a brutal day for dreams of playing in the NFL.

The Bears cannot reasonably keep four quarterbacks on the active roster. Although they are the darling of training camp And Hard blows, Martin Schulz is probably the underdog on Tuesday at 3 p.m.

Keith Randolph Jr, Khalid KareemAnd Freddie Swain have already been cut. The team has placed Ian Wheeler on the injured list after he tore his anterior cruciate ligament while battling for an extra yard and a place in the squad against the Chiefs.

  • Gone are the days of hoping that a combative camp star like Daniel Braverman would crack the 53-man roster. In 2022 Ryan Poles retained seven receivers. The following year he retained six. An influx of talent at that position could reduce that number to five this year. In addition, DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, Rome OdunzeAnd Thomas B.that means a place for Dante Pettis, DeAndre Carteror Colin Johnson.
  • Pettis and Carter are both valuable punt returners. However, Pettis was injured in practice last week and missed the season finale in Kansas City. In the game against the Chiefs, Carter was legally blocked on a ball he expected to roll into the end zone, causing him to touch the ball and give the Chiefs back possession. Johnson’s heroics in the Hall of Fame Game were a season highlight for the Bears, but his inability to stay on the field since then could send him to the waivers list and back to the practice squad.
  • Reddy Stewart capped off a solid preseason with a great performance with two interceptions. Unfortunately for the undrafted rookie, he is part of Chicago’s most competitive position group. Steward is a surefire signee for the practice squad… if he does not land in the active squad of another team beforehand.

Summary: White Sox record 100 losses fastest in 108 years

  • Another day, another milestone. The Philadelphia Athletics lost their 100th game of the year in the 130th game of the 1916 season. The White Sox did it last night in game number 131. Connie Mack’s team finished the season with a record of 36-117-1. Unless Grady Sizemore can lead his club to 12 wins in the last 31 games, the White Sox will set another MLB record: most losses in a full season of 162 games.
  • Maybe it was fate. Maybe it’s just coincidence. The 2003 Detroit Tigers, who currently hold the record for most losses with 119, lost their 100th to… the White Sox in their 134th game of the year. The 2024 White Sox lost their 100th to the Tigers on Sunday. Chicago completes an unusual Friday-Monday schedule against the Tigers today.
