Selena Gomez shows her best in a new teaser for Emilia Perezwhich came out on Monday (August 26) before the film hits Netflix this fall.

In the nearly two-minute video, fans catch a glimpse of the 32-year-old singer and actress staring into the camera, breaking down in tears and lying on a blanket with her fictional family, stargazing, while someone – presumably lead actress Karla Sofía Gascón, who plays the film’s title character – sings in whisper-quiet Spanish.

“Half rich, half poor, half boss, half queen,” the voice sings, according to Netflix’s English subtitles, and on the word “queen” a shot of Gomez strutting in slow motion appears. “Half here, half there, half dead, half alive/ Half in, half out, everything, nothing.”

After a fast-paced sequence of dance numbers led by Gomez and her co-stars, gunfire and blood, the teaser ends with a close-up of the Rare Beauty founder exhaling quietly with her eyes closed. The film also stars Zoe Saldaña, who appears throughout the teaser. The film is about a Mexican drug lord (Gascón) who embraces his true identity as a woman.

After its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May, where Gomez and her colleagues were jointly awarded Best Actress, Emilia Perez Premiering in French cinemas on August 21, audiences in the US, Canada and the UK will finally be able to see the musical directed by Jacques Audiard when it hits Netflix on November 13.

Ahead of the film’s French premiere, the “Love On” singer released a throwback video on August 19 in which she reacted to the news that she had been cast in the role. Emilia Perez“I can’t believe I got the movie, I’m about to cry,” she says in the clip, barely holding back her tears. “I don’t want to cry… This is going to be so cool.”
