Nier: Automata Ver1.1a has returned from hiatus with a fantastic episode in episode #19 and offers a lot to look forward to. Episode #20 and beyond. While episode #18 was one of the few episodes without action, episode #19 brought it back up and had a huge impact overall, and if the original game is anything to go by, it’s safe to assume that even greater works will follow.




Nier: Automata Ver1.1a Episode #19 continued the dual narrative, with A2 slowly moving toward Pascal’s village of pacifist machine lifeforms and 9S wanting to destroy all machine lifeforms to avenge 2B. The latter was the focus of the episode, and thereby Nier: Automata Ver1.1a Episode #19 became a haunting exploration of 9S’s gradual descent into madness.

The first season of Nier: Automata was certainly incredible, but the second half also increases its action and drama as it slowly builds towards its finale, and each new development is sure to be great to watch.

What happened in Nier: Automata Ver1.1a Episode 19?

In Nier: Automata Ver1.1a Episode No. 19, “corruption”, when A2 was fully operational again, she was ready to leave Pascal’s village, but before she was able to do so, Pod 042 reported that a huge army of machine lifeforms was approaching the village. While Pascal prepared to defend the village, everyone else was completely unprepared, especially the machine lifeforms who behaved like children, and therefore A2 decided to stay in Pascal’s village to protect it from the approaching army of machine life forms.although her decision was far less reluctant than she admitted.

Meanwhile, 9S tried to break into the mysterious white building that appeared in the city, the Tower, but not only was it inaccessible and even immune to his hacking, but Operator 21O, 9S’ operator, was apparently infected with the logic virus and ordered a legion of zombified androids to attack 9S. With their last shred of sanity, however, Telephone operator 21O committed suicide to save 9S’s lifeand 9S, now even more angry, scanned 21O’s data to find the location of three subunits he had to destroy to get into the tower.


At the first subunit, 9S discovered a legion of machine lifeforms, which Pod 153 identified as non-hostile, but 9S found it hypocritical that machine lifeforms did not want to fight, and slaughtered them all in a massive fit of rage.even as they begged for mercy. The sub-unit’s AI also begged for mercy, their tone and dialogue even made them seem childish, but that did not calm 9S’s anger and he destroyed them anyway.

Devola and Popola in the joke ending


In the joke ending of episode #19, Devola and Popola wore the outfits of the original Devola and Popola from the original series. Nier Play and go to Nier’s village to sing “Song of the Ancients”, which all showed that Nier: Automata Ver1.1a is already preparing the revelation that Devola and Popola are connected to those of Nier as opposed to its appearance as a simple Easter egg. This twist gave way to one of the most dramatic moments of the original game, and it’s great that the anime does more to build on it.

9S is consumed by anger

Episode #19 was an outstanding return to action for the Nier: Automata Anime that owes much to 9S’s character arc. Between the escalation of 9S’s tragedy with the death of 21O and the terrible rage with which he slaughtered so many innocent machine lifeforms, Nier: Automata Ver1.1a Episode 19 showed in a great way the slow descent of 9S into madnessMuch of this was thanks to the strong leadership of the team around Ryo Nakano, Kazuya Ishiguri, and Masasa Ito, and overall it perfectly encapsulated the same outstanding story arc as the original game.


The rest of the episode, which revolved around A2, was also entertaining to watch. Not only are the machine lifeforms in every scene great sources of comedy, but The subtle way A2 cared for Pascal and his village contributed a lot to her character developmenta big highlight in the short time it has been given so far. In addition to the great action, Nier: Automata Ver1.1a Episode #19 was once again great and will surely bring more quality content from the series.
