“Allegri’s shadow over Fonseca” – Milan needs a turnaround quickly

“Allegri’s shadow over Fonseca” – Milan needs a turnaround quickly

It is fair to say that Paulo Fonseca has not had the best start to his professional life at AC Milan and if things continue like this, his future at the club may not last much longer.

After a fantastic pre-season, expectations were pretty high for Milan, not necessarily because of the results but because of the way they came about – Fonseca got his team to play beautiful football.

However, that has quickly become a distant memory as the Rossoneri have failed to win any of their first competitive matches. Saturday’s defeat to newly promoted Parma highlighted several problems and, unfortunately, it seems that some departments have regressed since last season.

There were major problems in defence and the team seemed unable to implement Fonseca’s ideas. Tuttosport (via Milan News) suggests that if changes are not made soon, talks could begin about the Portuguese coach’s future.

This weekend’s match against Lazio already represents a “major turning point” for the Diavolo’s season and, while there are no questions about Fonseca yet, that could quickly change. A different Milan will have to show its face in the capital and failure to do so in the early stages casts a heavy shadow over the season.

The international break is just around the corner and if the situation does not improve, the newspaper suspects that Massimiliano Allegri’s shadow is already falling on Fonseca – given the numerous rumours in Milan and Turin.
