The presenters of Today Extra receive almost full marks for their Deadpool dance

With its huge cast list, epically bloody fight scenes and extremely crude humor, Deadpool and Wolverine is one of the biggest blockbusters to hit theaters this year.

But there is a dance scene in the opening sequence where the character dances to N*Sync’s 2000 pop hit, Bye, byethat went viral on the internet.

The media immediately congratulated Ryan Reynolds on his impressive choreography, but the star of the film clarified that this was not an imitation of the movements from the original video clip of the song.

That’s because it was actually LA dancer Nick Pauley who cuts a great figure as Dancepool in the opening scenes.

The sequence has had everyone online recreating the moves originally put together for N*Sync by choreographer Darrin D. Henson 24 years ago.

And Nick told Today Extra he only had an hour to learn the entire routine for his mystery audition. Deadpool and Wolverine.

“I’m chilling at my parent’s house and I get a call from my agent and he says, ‘You have to learn the dance from the Bye, bye music video,” said Nick.

“He said, ‘I can’t really tell you what it’s for, I don’t really know, but I would advise you to do this,’ so I thought he doesn’t normally say things like that, so I learned it in my parent’s kitchen and that was my audition clip.”

And after receiving a call back and trying on the Deadpool costume, Nick finally learned that he had won the role.

But it was all so mysterious and he still didn’t know what the role actually was.

“I didn’t even know if it was for a music video or a commercial. I only found out it was in the film after filming,” he said.

But Nick’s last appearance on the big screen was a success and Ryan Reynolds and the founding members of N*Sync congratulated him on his impeccable moves.

In fact, thousands on social media have recreated the dance sequence themselves, including the presenters of Today Extra.

On Friday, David Campbell, Belinda Russell and Lizzie Pearl attempted the dance themselves and showed Nick a video of it and asked him to give them an honest review.

“It’s good, the synchronization is right, the details, the timing, it’s good – from Dancepool personally I give it a 9.5,” he said.
