High school tennis: Hornets win opening match

MOORESVILLE – Salisbury’s girls tennis team opened the season with a 9-0 non-league win at Mooresville.
Lucy Barr was involved in a tough 8-6 match in the No. 1 singles, but the Hornets were able to win.
Other individual winners for Salisbury were Meredith Williams, Addison Griffith, Lola Koontz, Anna Kate Goodman and Gabriella Fatovic.
Barr/Williams, Goodman/Koontz and Griffith/Fatovic were winning doubles teams.
Milton Griffith has returned to lead the Hornets after a year away.

Lucy Moore, Olyvia Brown, Ally Suggs and Laney Moore won singles matches for West Rowan in a 5-3 South Piedmont Conference win over South Rowan.
Emma Crider and Brown won the No. 2 doubles match and won the match.
