A wounded Palestinian prisoner succumbed on Sunday to gunshot wounds inflicted by Israeli forces in July in the town of Tulkarem in the northwestern part of the occupied West Bank.

In a statement, the Commission for Prisoners’ and Former Prisoners’ Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) announced on Sunday that the young man, Zaher Tahseen Youssef Raddad19, succumbed to his serious injuries at Meir Hospital in Israel.

The statement added that Raddad was shot and seriously injured in an Israeli military raid in the city of Tulkarem and the Tulkarem refugee camp on July 23, 2024.

It was further reported that the army used the young man as a human shield during the attack by placing him on the front of one of their military vehicles.

Despite the young man’s serious injuries, his unstable condition, numerous operations and several court hearings in absentia, the occupation authorities continued to detain the young man until his death.

The Prisoners’ Commission and the PPS blamed the Israeli occupation for Raddad’s death, claiming that the army had “complex crime“ against the arrested man, a citizen of the village of Saida northeast of Tulkarem.

According to the Commission for Prisoners’ and Former Prisoners’ Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) “With the martyrdom of the wounded prisoner Raddad, the number of prisoners and detainees killed since October 7 whose identities have been made public has risen to (23). In addition, there are dozens of prisoners from Gaza who have died in the occupying power’s prisons and camps and whose identities the occupying power keeps secret to this day.”
In a similar report, Israeli forces fired Ahmad Mohammad Khalil Al-Anteer18, before dawn on Sunday, after opening fire on his vehicle near the Al-Jalamah military road checkpoint north of Jenin in the northern occupied West Bank.

Since the military assault on the Gaza Strip began on October 7, 2023, Israeli forces have killed 641 Palestinians, including 147 children, and injured 5,400 in the occupied West Bank.

In the Gaza Strip, the Israeli military has killed 40,405 Palestinians, most of them women and children, and injured 93,468 since the start of its military offensive on October 7, 2023. Thousands still lie under the rubble.
