There was a lot going on in Crunchyroll’s Tower of God Season 2 Episode 7, “Mazino Magic”—but we need to get a better sense of where things are going.

The seventh episode of Crunchyrolls Tower of God Season 2, “Mazino Magic,” added even more layers to the already dense plot. While not much is happening per se, there is definitely something happening, and I have no idea or theory at the moment as to where the story might be headed. This definitely makes watching it exciting and entertaining – but perhaps a little more clarity is needed at this point.

The episode starts right where it all left off. Viole versus a guy with red eyes who keeps killing Rankers who are after Zygaena’s flower. Everyone is notified where Viole is and waits for Zygaena to turn around to fight for the flower before she falls over it. However, the team is notified of the location and everyone immediately rushes over.

It was nice to see everyone rushing to Viole’s aid. Just before their blows, they met Miseng and the little creature with the flower on its back that was chasing them. And in no time, several things happened. Eventually, Viole shifted the blow and fell down to protect Miseng, creating a pool of blood. The red-eyed guy takes the creature and lets the team take the flower. It turns out that Yihwa’s family was behind this grand plan: killing Zygaenas to make the flower more desirable and thus keep its price high. The red-eyed guy, who turned out to be Mazino, tried to stop all the takers from killing any more of their babies or getting the flowers at all.

This gives the Zygaena population a chance to grow again and the flower can become more common. I know it was a little radical but once we find out that the powerful ones are killing creatures to scalp nature, I automatically dislike them… or like them even less. Since we already know something is wrong with the tower and its power dynamic. Viole is sleeping outside when his FUG friend somehow threatens Wangnan to move on and find a new team member but everyone refuses to leave Viole. It’s cute that he still has people rooting for him and even tries to keep them away. I love it, reminds me of some of my favorite anime good guys like Tanjiro, Gon and Yoh…

With all the little twists and turns that keep happening and all the new revelations and characters, I have absolutely no idea or theories about where things are going. However, Hwa Ryun makes me feel like there’s more to come. Not to mention she keeps dropping hints here and there to Wangnan. So one thing we do know: we might see her meet Viole’s previous team in a few years at the gun fight she hinted at. I wonder if we might get some sort of meeting or glimpse of the previous team before then.

That is, Crunchyrolls Tower of God has progressed at a decent pace so far and keeps my interest in what is happening consistently. I must say, the prince seems much smaller and more childlike now after being rescued by Kang. I am so excited to see where things will go, especially with Viole gaining her trust and Yihwa becoming determined to change and right the wrongs her family has done. I look forward to the dynamic changes as things progress.
