After Donald Trump was convicted in New York City, Representative Mary Peltola was asked a simple question: What did she think?

She turned around, left her Democratic colleague and said, “I have to go.” She went back to the safety of her office in Washington, DC. She just didn’t want to Answer all questions about the May 30th conviction.

Now she is a victim, she says, approached and “booed by random men/political stalkers like the one below who followed me last week.”

Here is the full context of the actual exchange in early June with the Conservative news site Townhall, which she falsely claimed was last week:

In her letter to potential donors, she used a screenshot of the video from nearly three months ago, immediately after the conviction.

It was a simple question, and if Congressman Don Young had walked outside the Capitol, where reporters are everywhere, he would have told the reporter what he really thought.

But Peltola lied about the incident because it fit her victim narrative.

Last week, Congress was not even in session and all of her Democratic allies were in Chicago, while Peltola was hiding in Alaska, trying to downplay her Democratic loyalty. She did not attend the Democratic convention.

“Then every single statement I make is twisted and taken out of context by groups like the NRCC in hopes of weakening my support in Alaska,” Peltola said in her letter asking for money for herself and the Alaska Democratic Party.

In reality, it was Peltola who took the video exchange out of context and failed to tell her followers that it was a legitimate question, a question any politician would be asked by a good reporter, and a question every member of Congress has been asked by reporters. Reporters covering Peltola in Washington have repeatedly let her get away with it.

Elsewhere, Peltola has stated that she simply does not want to answer anything that might be controversial.

“I refuse to play the disgusting games and wage the smear campaigns that my opponents and the special interests are running. But I still have to fight back. So please (friend), would you split $25 between the Alaska Democratic Party and me before midnight so I can fight off these constant attacks and win in November?” she asked in her fundraising letter.
