Everyone knows and loves Superman. But not many know much about Superman’s early years after he was discovered and adopted by Ma and Pa Kent. His high school years were never really mentioned in the media. That is, apart from the amazing 2001 series known as Smallville. Actors Tom Welling as the Man of Steel in high school, the series shows Clark Kent trying to survive in high school and tells the origins of Clark and Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum) iconic hatred for each other.




Smallville is often seen as the only reason why the incredibly beloved Arrowverseand superhero television in general were possible and as popular as it is today. The critical reception of the series throughout its 10 seasons is legendary, not only in the superhero fieldbut also the entire television sector.

10 “Bride”

Season 8, Episode 10 (2008)

Smallville Season 8, Episode 10, “Bride,” is a monumental episode, not only because the TV episode depicts the emotional wedding between the first day’s character, Chloe Sullivan (Allison Mack) and the legendary Superman character Jimmy Olsen (Aaron Ashmore), but because it includes the return of the unique Lana Lang (Kristin Kreuk). Not to mention the always terrible end of the world (Dario Delacio).

For a wedding episode this entry in the Smallville The series is actually quite fast-paced and action-packed. She does a lot for Lois Lane (Erica Durance) and Clark’s possible relationship, which he develops further. It’s a big moment for the series and one of the best midseason finales throughout the show.

9 “Descent”

Lex and Clark’s paths cross as Lex tries to find out more about the “Traveller,” a nickname given to Clark by Veritas. Lex takes a big leap in his character development when he meets his father, Lionel Luthor (John Glover) out of a window and brutally killed him.

The interaction between Clark and Lex at Lionel’s grave at the end of the episode is a powerful moment and serves the plot incredibly well. Especially considering that this episode has such a big meaning for Lex, as it really showcases his dark side and his descent into it.. Since this is one of the last few episodes to feature Michael Rosenbaum as a main character, the shift in focus to him is welcome and extremely well done.

8 “Phantom”

With the reappearance of John Jones (Phil Morris), also known as Martian Manhunter, who returns to help Clark take on Lex, who is searching for the last Phantom Zone Wraith. Meanwhile, Lana tries to leave Lex, having discovered all the despicable acts he has committed.

This episode contains not only a lot of drama but also great actionand Clark discovers that Lionel threatened Lana into marrying Lex. She decides to leave Smallville and confesses to Clark that she has always loved him. Clark also faces off against the last Phantom Zone escapee in a thrilling action sequence that perfectly contrasts the intense drama.

7 “Beginning”

The grand finale of the fourth season, Smallville In Season 4, Episode 22, “Commencement,” another meteor shower is heading toward Smallville. Lana (obsessed with Isobelle) murders Genevieve Teague (Jane Seymour), Clark is told that he must find all of the crystals, all while the students of Smallville High are celebrating their graduation.

Season finales are always popular with fans and season 4 is one of them for good reason. Many argue it is the overall best episode of season 4. With great scale thanks to the impending meteor shower, tension from the conflict with Lana, who is now potentially wanted for murder, and tension created by Clark’s race against time, The finale of the fourth season has everything a Smallville Episode great.

6 “Justice”

As a list of external DC characters in the Smallville universe began to grow, fans began to ask the obvious question: “When are they going to make the Justice League?” Smallville Season 6, Episode 11, “Justice” begins to do just that. When Green Arrow (Justin Hartley) is looking for help, he finds exactly that with people like Impulse (Kyle Gallner), Cyborgs (Lee Thompson Young), Aquaman (Alan Ritchson) and of course Clark Kent.

The viewers were obviously excited about this episode. Because who doesn’t love a good superhero team? The team dynamic between the five heroes is really well done and the episode itself offers a great mix of action, humor and drama.. Some even go so far as to say that this could easily have served as a soft pilot for a Justice League series.

5 “Final”

The end of a ten-season series that ran for ten years had to be executed exceptionally well, and luckily for the cast and crew of Smallvillethey did it with grace. Clark Kent has one last step to take on his journey to becoming a cult hero known as Superman, and it won’t be easy, as the planet Apokolips is heading towards Earth. And at the same time, he has to attend his own wedding!

Smallville began as a series that left many wondering if it would reach the scope and size “necessary” to adapt classic Superman stories. While Smallville Since the idea that you don’t need big stories to be successful had proven successful, they decided to go into detail with the big, two-hour finale. He succeeds in spectacularly rounding off all the important plot points while simultaneously preparing for the great future as the iconic Superman.especially with the iconic Superman suit at the end.


4 “Rosetta”

Clark visits Dr. Virgil Swann (Christopher Reeve) as he tries to figure out where he really came from before landing on Earth. Luckily, Dr. Swann has information about Clark’s home planet that might be useful to him. Meanwhile, Lana and Chloe get into a heated argument about Clark.

How on earth could an episode starring the legendary Christopher Reeve not be well done? But that amazing cameo isn’t what makes the episode so good. The implementation of the mystery surrounding Clark’s origins was incredibly well done in this episode. and keeps the audience thinking the whole time, even if they know Clark’s comedic roots.


3 “Salvation”

Things get serious when Zod sends his army to Earth as the battle for the Book of Rao continues. Lois, Chloe, and Green Arrow all become involved in the battle between Clark and Zod for control of the planet, with some outside help from outside the picture from the rest of the Justice League and Justice Society.

Many critics and viewers were not thrilled with the Season 8 finale, so when the Season 9 finale began, everyone was nervous about whether they would pull off another ambitious finale or whether they would fail. It’s safe to say: the crew and cast of Smallville the finale of the eighth season surpassed it by far. The character development, not only of Clark but of everyone, was amazingly well done.


2 “Homecoming”

In the 200th episode of the series, Clark is mentally unstable and wondering where his place in life is. Lois notices his plight and convinces him to attend her five-year high school reunion. In Brainiac 5, Clark goes on a journey through his past, remembering the past seasons of the series.

Every big, monumental episode of a CW series always tends to show the past of the series to show how far the series has come since the first episode. Similar to The Flash for their 100th episode. This episode’s journey through the past perfectly underlines Clark’s character development over the course of the series. and underlines its current position in modern history.


1 “Invoice”

After much deliberation, Clark decides it is time to reveal the secret to Lana, that is, his powers, his origins, and the Fortress of Solitude. Unfortunately, Lana is soon hit by a school bus and tragically loses her life because Clark is not there fast enough to save her. When Clark receives a crystal that restores the day, he decides to save Lana, but events take a turn for the worse and his father Jonathan dies instead.


It’s incredibly depressing that Clark is losing one of his pillars of life. The emotions processed in writing this episode are excellent. It is a rollercoaster of emotions as the audience watches Lana die, gets her back, and then shortly after has to watch Pa Kent die. It is not easy to get such emotions out of the audience, and the writers of this episode, Jerry Siegel, Joe ShusterAnd Alfred GoughNot just to pull it off, but to absolutely kill it! The only thing Superman can’t cure is death.
