Alex Jones has stopped dancing forever after his appearance on Strictly

Alex Jones says her “terrible” time on Strictly Come Dancing put her off dancing forever.

Despite her fears, the One Show presenter, who reached the semi-finals of the competition with her professional partner James Jordan, enjoyed her experience on BBC One’s Latin and ballroom dancing show.

The 44-year-old radio presenter told BBC Radio Wales: “It’s so terrifying. It’s put me off dancing forever.”

“But I loved the experience.”

Judge Rinder, who took part in the live chat with Alex, agreed that he had some anxiety about Strictly, but said that his appearance on the show was just the beginning of his dancing career, as he went on to join a dance group.

The 43-year-old star, who attended the Glitterball in 2016, said: “It’s as much fun as you can have dressed up.”

But Rinder, who finished fifth as the partner of professional tennis player Oksana Platero, admitted he was “terribly scared”.

He added: “I was terrified. I really love it… Strictly has brought me joy.”

Alex felt that a dance class would be preferable to the very public airtime of Strictly on Saturday night.

She said: “Dance fitness sounds great because everyone is at the same level.”

Following the conclusion of the last season – which EastEnders star Rose Ayling-Ellis won – the holiday special aired on Christmas Day (25.12.21) and 30-year-old pop singer Anne-Marie won.

Together with her professional partner Graziano Di Prima, the “Birthday” singer beat competitors such as Moira Stewart, Mel Giedroyc, Fred Sirieix, Jay Blades and Adrian Chiles and triumphed in the festive edition of the show.
