Woman thrown from sixth floor of house because she didn’t bring money from her parents

Thane: A 40-year-old housewife sustained serious injuries after her in-laws allegedly threw her from the sixth floor of a building because she did not bring money from her parents, police said on Saturday.

Though the incident took place near Mumbra last month, the complaint was filed only on Friday, an official said. No person has been arrested in the case so far.

The woman’s in-laws demanded that she bring money from her parents. Noor Mohammad, the uncle of her husband Sabir Mukhtar Sheikh, was furious at her refusal and allegedly threw her out of the family’s sixth-floor apartment in Shailesh Nagar on July 31.

The woman suffered broken bones in both legs and numerous other injuries and is currently being treated in a hospital, the police officer said.

A first report has been filed against Sabir Shaikh, Noor Mohammed, the woman’s mother-in-law, and three other members of the husband’s family under Section 109 (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, he said. Further investigation is underway.
