Ole Miss Football adds Lane Kiffin’s younger brother Chris to the team

OXFORD — Chris Kiffin, the younger brother of Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin, is set to join the Rebels’ staff for the third time, according to a report from ESPN’s Chris Low.

Kiffin was most recently linebacker coach for the Houston Texans. He has 19 years of coaching experience, including seven years in the NFL.

This is the fourth time Chris and Lane have worked together on the same college coaching staff. Chris was a defensive administrative assistant on Lane’s USC staff in 2010. In 2017, he worked as co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at FAU. In 2022, he served as the Rebels’ linebackers coach and co-defensive coordinator for about a month before joining the Cleveland Browns.

Kiffin also spent five years at Oxford under Hugh Freeze as defensive line coach from 2012 to 2016. The NCAA charged him with four recruiting violations as part of its investigation into the Rebels program, three of which he accepted. He admitted to providing free housing to family members of recruits, arranging for a recruit to receive free merchandise and allowing a recruit to live at his home.

He joins a strong analyst staff that includes former New York Giants coach Joe Judge and former Mississippi State coach Zach Arnett.

Lane Kiffin’s contract with the Ole Miss Athletic Foundation contains a clause that requires OMAF to provide a salary pool for support staff that ranks in the top half of the SEC.
