Minor girl found dead in garbage dump after “rape” in Karachi

KARACHI: A minor girl was allegedly raped and murdered before being thrown into a garbage dump in Karachi’s Saddar area. Geo News was reported on Sunday, citing police and hospital officials.

According to police, the body of the 12-year-old victim was found in a burlap sack at a garbage dump near Lukcy Star.

Police said the victim “looked like a destitute girl” and added that an investigation was underway to ascertain the facts in the case.

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Dr Summaiya Syed said the girl’s body has been shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medical examination.

Citing the initial autopsy report, the official said the girl had been “sexually abused.” However, the cause of death will only be determined after further investigation.

Dr. Syed further explained that samples had been taken from the victim’s body for DNA testing.

Later, the police registered a case at Saddar police station based on the complaint of the victim’s mother.

Taking notice of the matter, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah expressed his grief and ordered a thorough investigation into the case to bring the culprits to justice.

He instructed the police to crack down on suspects committing crimes against children, women, the elderly and vulnerable sections of society.

He also directed Sindh Provincial Inspector General (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon to inform all police stations in the province about the government’s policies towards vulnerable groups.
