Dwight Howard reveals Michael Jordan’s message after joining the Charlotte Hornets

Dwight Howard is one of the best NBA players of all time.

During his 18-year career, Howard made a brief stop with the Charlotte Hornets (2017-18).

At this point, he was still a good player, but no longer the superstar he was with the Orlando Magic.

Recently, Howard published a post (via X) revealing what Michael Jordan told him when he joined the team.

Howard wrote: “The fact is, it’s like when I went to Charlotte and Jordan told me to just be the same old Dwight 🤷🏾‍♂️”

This year, Howard averaged 16.6 points, 12.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.6 blocks per game in 81 games for Charlotte, shooting 55.5%.

He was able to play in more games than he did in seven seasons (and put up strong numbers).

Still, despite Howard and star point guard Kemba Walker, the Hornets were not a good team.

They finished 10th in the Eastern Conference (and missed the playoffs) with a record of 36-46.

After his only season in Charlotte, the Hornets traded Howard to the Brooklyn Nets (who released him).

About The Hornets on July 6, 2018: “OFFICIAL: The Hornets have received Timofey Mozgov, two second-round draft picks and a cash consideration from the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Dwight Howard.”

Charlotte was Howard’s last stop as a star, but he later had a highly successful career as a supporting actor with the Los Angeles Lakers and the Philadelphia 76ers.

During the 2020 season, Howard helped the Lakers win the NBA championship.
