Platform 7 cast, filming locations and episode guide for the ITV thriller

A haunting new drama is coming to our screens soon, offering a unique insight into life on a railway station.

Platform 7 is a heartbreaking modern ghost story in which a young woman named Lisa is forced to face the mystery of her death.

In ITV’s psychological thriller, she is left in the station where she died, unable to remember who she was.

After witnessing a cataclysmic event on Platform 7 at Peterborough Station, her fragmented memories return, revealing the truth about her death.

The film is based on the novel of the same name by Louise Doughty, was adapted for the screen by Paula Milne and produced by Chris Carey and Kate Triggs.

Doughty said Peterborough was a station she had been associated with throughout her life.

She said: ‘I used to joke that if I had been evil and died and gone to purgatory, I would be trapped at Peterborough train station on a freezing November night.

“That’s where the idea came from: a train station as a metaphor for purgatory and a young woman who dies there under mysterious circumstances and is trapped there until the mystery of her death is solved.”

Where is Platform 7 filmed?

Writer Louise Doughty said the novel version of Platform 7 played at Peterborough railway station, where she had spent her entire life passing through or waiting.

“It’s a fantastic gift for a writer because you have a setting where there’s a lot of action,” she said. “There are hordes of people passing through at all hours of the day and night.”

“I spent a lot of time at Peterborough train station myself while researching the novel and got to know the staff there quite well. I really felt for how this small community spends all day dealing with the smallest needs of its customers – why is the lift broken, why is my service six minutes late – and then suddenly they have to deal with life-or-death situations.”

Filming for the ITV series did not take place at Peterborough station; instead, the concourse and forecourt at Kidderminster station in Worcestershire were filmed.

The actual Platform 7 footage was shot at Keighley station in West Yorkshire.

The county was also used for filming outside the station area; the Leeds suburb of Chapel Allerton served as a setting for some of the dramas.

Jasmine Jobson, who plays Lisa, said: “Filming the show was so much fun, but being in a train station in the middle of winter was definitely not fun. I constantly had to pretend I didn’t feel the cold as a ghost – so I was always trying to imagine I was in a hot country like the Dominican Republic!”
