Kevin Doyle’s Roscommon Soles bring Irish music and dance to Friends Of The Waterfront Concert Series in Newport
The Friends Of The Waterfront, the New England Music Organization and North End Entertainment present an exciting Saturday afternoon full of traditional Irish melodies and rhythms paired with breathtaking dance moves thanks to Kevin Doyle’s
Roscommon soles.
Kevin Doyle, a longtime curator of traditional Irish music and dance, is the recipient of a National Heritage Fellowship in Irish Dance from the National Endowment for the Arts. Born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island, Doyle learned his first jigs and reels at age eight from his Roscommon-born mother. With more than 50 years of dance experience, the tradition has taken him from performing at the Obama White House to the prestigious Willie Clancy Summer School in County Clare, Ireland. He served as a presenter and teacher at the school in 2015 and 2018, a rare encore for an American artist.
Kevin Doyle is a dynamic artist, choreographer, teacher and producer of the Roscommon Soles’ Irish Parlor Performing Arts Series. On Saturday, Doyle will be joined by Irish fiddler Sheila Falls and Irish flute player Josh Kane. This special Roscommon Soles show will also feature two master musicians: Tim Keohane and Paul Kenneally of the great duo Keohane and Kenneally.
