Matt Goodwin has hit back at social media users who have returned to the right-wing course following the terrorist attacks in Germany.

He wrote on social media: “The answer to terrorist attacks is not to have a debate about how the ‘far right’ might respond.”

“It’s about discussing how we eradicate violent Islamism in Western societies. If you want to get rid of the extreme right, you have to start by making people feel safe in their own countries.”

An asylum seeker from Syria had previously been arrested. He is accused of killing three people and injuring eight others in a knife attack in West Germany. According to a German federal prosecutor, he is believed to be a member of the Islamic State.

Authorities said the 26-year-old man turned himself in and confessed to the crime. Der Spiegel reported that the man moved to Germany in late 2022 and applied for asylum.

On Saturday, the terrorist militia “Islamic State” claimed responsibility for the attack.

The suspect stabbed passers-by who were attending a city festival in Solingen on Friday at around 9:45 p.m. (local time).

According to police, the attacker specifically targeted the victims’ throats, with the attacks being “very specific” to the victims’ necks. In a statement on the IS Telegram account, the group described the man who carried out the attack as an “Islamic State soldier.”

They wrote: “He carried out the attack in revenge for Muslims in Palestine and around the world.”

The incident occurred at a festival in Solingen – about 25 kilometers from Düsseldorf – that began on Friday and was scheduled to continue over the weekend.

Following the terrible incident, an urgent manhunt was launched on Friday.
