Demand to remove Shakib from Bangladesh team, legal notice sent to board

After a murder case was initiated against Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan in Dhaka, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) received a legal notice.

The notice was sent by Supreme Court lawyer Sajeb Mahmood Alam through his colleague Mohammad Rafiur Rahman. The legal notice asked the board to remove Shakib from the national team after he was named as a suspect in a high-profile murder case and also requested that Shakib, who is currently on tour in Pakistan, be recalled to cooperate with the investigation.

During the Rawalpindi Test, murder charges were brought against all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan.

The case against Shakib was registered at Adabar police station on August 22. He is accused of murdering textile factory worker Mohammad Rubel. The lawyer stressed in the complaint that it is against the ICC rules to allow a cricketer involved in criminal activities to play in the international team. Under the current circumstances, Shakib should not be part of the national team.

To protect the reputation of Bangladesh cricket, Shakib should be banned from all forms of the game. The final decision on the matter will be taken by the new board administration.
