Kamareddy: Two children have died due to viral fever in the last two days and several others have been infected due to suspected viral fever in Bhoompalle village in Sadashivanagar mandal of the district.

According to reports, a ten-year-old boy died of a viral infection on Friday, while a twelve-year-old girl died of a viral infection and pulmonary problems on Saturday.

The two children were initially treated by a local doctor with a registered medical professional (RMP). When their condition deteriorated, they were transferred to a private hospital where they died during treatment.

Although villagers claimed that the two children died of dengue fever, local health authorities insisted that the two died of viral fever and pulmonary problems.

Officials pointed out that the report of the private hospital clearly mentioned that the girl died of lung infection and the boy died of viral fever. As is known, about four persons have died of viral fever in the village in the last three days.

Health authorities said about 110 dengue cases have been reported in the district in the last eight months.

“Government hospitals in the district are admitting over 30 cases of viral fever every day. Many people are suffering from high or mild fever, cough, cold and body aches, which indicate viral or vector-borne diseases,” the officials said.

Officials said the department is taking measures to contain the spread of viruses and dengue fever in the district. “Health workers are providing treatment to people in the affected villages. We are doing everything possible to help the people,” officials said.
