UFC Vegas 96 results: Biggest winners and losers from last night’s Cannonier vs. Borralho

UFC Vegas 96 took place last night (Sat., August 24, 2024) at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. Caio Borralho Loss Jared Cannonier by unanimous decision (summary here). In the co-main event Tabatha Ricci secured a big victory over Angela Hillalso by unanimous decision.

Biggest winner: Caio Borralho

The top 10 will have a new member next week as Borralho secured one of the biggest wins of his career by knocking out Cannonier after five rounds, extending his winning streak to 14 straight and his record to 17-1-1. With him currently ranked 12th and Cannonier at 5th, “The Natural” could very well take “Killa Gorilla’s” place. He is a real threat and an up-and-coming contender who could challenge for the title sooner rather than later.

Second place: Michael Morales

Like Borralho after him, Morales secured one of the biggest wins of his career by defeating the long-time veteran. Neil Magnyby technical knockout (TKO) in the first round with just 25 seconds left in the round. Morales improves his flawless record to 17-0, 5-0 UFC and could find himself in the top 15. After all, he just made mincemeat of the fighter ranked 12th in the division. He also received a $50,000 post-fight bonus for his efforts.

Honorable Mentions: Ryand Loder and Mairon Santos

We must give credit to the new Ultimate Fighter (TUF) winners because Ryan Loder And Mairon Santos The TUF 32 winners were crowned after two consecutive TKO victories over Robert Valentine And Kaan Oflirespectively, both in the second round. Now both men can fulfill their lifelong journey and one day challenge for the title after signing “six-figure contracts.”

Biggest loser: Victoria Leonardo

Leonardo just can’t seem to get going in the Octagon. She began her UFC career with two consecutive losses by technical knockout, a win over Mandy Bohm, followed by two consecutive TKO losses, including her most recent loss last night in “Sin City.” With a record of 1-4 in her first five UFC fights – all by TKO – she has established herself as one of the prime candidates for a next-round cut, especially since her most recent setback lasted just 62 seconds.
