Jutta Gallery is pleased to welcome you to GIRL DINNER, a solo exhibition of new work by Bree Chapin. This exhibition consists of figurative paintings and still lifes – in bright pink.

Opening reception on Friday, May 10 from 6-9 p.m. The exhibition runs through the closing event on Saturday, May 18. For questions or collector inquiries, please contact (email protected) or call (917) 371-9149. Admission is free and open to the public.

Blurry figures from downtown bars and half-remembered parties are conjured. Scattered objects suggest carefree nights. All of this is a waking dream in pink.

Bree’s paintings are known for their evocative imagery and exuberant, all-pink palette. She has spent years creating works in this one color, avoiding all others. As the artist explains, “Pink is simultaneously loud and aggressive, yet fuzzy and dreamy. It’s punk rock and strawberry shortcake. I’m fascinated by the aesthetic, physical and symbolic qualities of the color. Pink has a power, a history – and it has never cared what we think of it.”

In her latest series, Bree uses her signature color system to imagine scenes and characters that nostalgically reflect on the fleeting freedom of irresponsibility. GIRL DINNER features brand new paintings of the blurred spaces between risk and celebration, restraint and release.
