Summer hasn’t left Cape Cod yet, and that means there are still plenty of different stories to cover that offer warm-weather fun. But with fall right around the corner, the Cape Cod Times sports section is also giving a preview of the upcoming local high school football season.

The singer of the B-52s presents her new solo music on Cape Cod
Kate Pierson, singer and keyboardist for The B-52s and part-time Truro resident, performed music from her upcoming solo album, “Radios & Rainbows,” on Wednesday, August 21, at the Wequassett Resort & Golf Club in Harwich.
The concert was free and part of the Cape Cod Jazz Festival.
Radios & Rainbows is Pierson’s second solo album and features several collaborations, including “Every Day is Halloween” with Australian singer and songwriter Sia. The album will be released on September 20th.

Is September the best month on Cape Cod?
Eric Williams of the Cape Cod Times explains why September is the best month on the Cape because of fewer crowds and less stress. Cape Cod couple gives birth to baby on highway
Rebecca Mahota and her husband Danya Mahota of Brewster were on their way from their home to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth on August 8 to give birth to their daughter, Summer.
But as they drove up Route 6, Summer had other plans.
“(Rebecca) starts screaming and thinks, ‘She’s coming,'” Danya said. “Of course I drive, I reach between my wife’s legs and I actually feel my daughter’s head.”

Plymouth City Council makes decision on land recognition application
Phoebe Flynn, chair of the Plymouth Area League of Women Voters’ Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, proposed recognition of the land at a meeting of the Committee of Precinct Chairs on May 16.
The League requested that the land acknowledgment honoring the Wampanoag Tribe of Herring Pond be routinely read at the beginning of each committee meeting.
Based on McKay’s statement, members of the Committee of Precinct Chairs voted to remove all land recognition issues from future committee agendas.
