Mohammad Shehzad Khan, a resident of Karimnagar, had worked for a telecommunications company in Saudi Arabia for three years.

The incident occurred when Shehzad, accompanied by his Sudanese colleague, became disoriented in the desert after his GPS reception dropped. Shehzad’s phone battery also ran out, leaving the two unable to call for help, NDTV reported.

Soon their vehicle ran out of fuel, and the two men ran out of food and water in the scorching heat. Being stranded in the dangerous Empty Quarter of the desert is almost a guarantee of death.

The Rub al-Khali Mountains stretch for more than 650 kilometers, are known for their harsh conditions and extend across the southern regions of Saudi Arabia and into neighboring countries.

Although the two fought to survive, temperatures were extreme and dehydration and exhaustion set in. Their bodies were discovered on Thursday, four days after they set off for the desert, lying next to their vehicle in the sand dunes.

The car they were driving had broken down and they were left wandering around the desert. Their bodies were found on a prayer rug, according to the Free press journal.

Sources from Shehzad’s family told the online news platform Siasat dailyThey would prefer to maintain their absolute privacy in this hour of mourning.

Information about Shehzad’s colleague, a Sudanese citizen, was not found.
