Texas cat rescued with cup stuck on head and promptly named Jar Jar: Watch

Police in Palmhurst, Texas, helped Jar Jar earlier this month when the cat was wandering around in the heat and unable to see. They said “immediate action was needed”

A cat in Texas got into a predicament earlier this month when its head got stuck in a cup.

Police were called to help the cat after it was seen wandering down the street in Palmhurst, in far south Texas, with a cup on its head in scorching temperatures.

“We are not sure how long this poor cat has been suffering from this heat and unable to see, but immediate action must be taken,” Palmhurst police wrote in a Facebook post about the August 1 incident.

Body camera footage shows that the cat was frightened and ran away when officers approached, even running out into the street. Fortunately, one of the officers figured out how to rescue the cat.

After the rescue, the department immediately found a suitable name for the cat: Jar Jar.

In Palmhurst, Texas, police officers fought in the heat to save a distressed cat with a glass wrapped around its head.

Palmhurst police officers immediately go to work, trying to get as close to the cat as possible without scaring it. The cat initially runs and jumps away from the officers, but eventually stops when it feels cornered.

“Do you want to grab it? Or do you want me to grab it?” asks an officer.

An officer gets close enough to grab the cup, but the cat jumps away before the officer can take it off his head. They try again, but this time they decide to cover the cat in a yellow vest printed with highlighters to keep it from fidgeting.

The officer who managed to wrap the cat goes to another colleague who tries to remove the cup again. This attempt also fails.

Only when the officers sit the cat down and try to hold it down do they manage to remove the cup from its head. They keep the cat wrapped in the vest, let it get some air and give it the opportunity to nibble on a can of cat food.
