Do not use water from appliances connected to your water supply, such as ice and water from a refrigerator.

Infant nutrition:

– If you bottle feed your child, give him or her ready-to-use infant formula if possible.

Washing hands:

– Make sure to scrub your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, then rinse well under running water.

Bathing and showering:

– Be careful not to swallow water when bathing or showering.

– Be careful when bathing babies and young children. Wash them with a sponge to reduce the risk of them swallowing water.

Brushing your teeth:

– Brush your teeth with boiled or bottled water. Do not use tap water that you have not boiled first.

Wash the dishes:

– If boiling water is recommended, use disposable plates, cups and cutlery if possible.

Household dishwashers can generally be used safely if:

– The water reaches a final rinse temperature of at least 150 degrees Fahrenheit, or

– The dishwasher has a disinfection cycle.

How to wash dishes by hand:

– Wash and rinse the dishes as usual with hot water.

– In a separate basin, add 1 teaspoon of odorless liquid household bleach per gallon of warm water.

– Soak the washed dishes in water for at least one minute.

– Allow the dishes to air dry completely before using them again.

– Disinfect all baby bottles.

Laundry:

– The clothes can be washed as usual without any problems.

Cleaning:

Clean washable toys and surfaces with:

– Bottled water,

– Boiled water or

– Water disinfected with bleach.

Pet care:

– Pets can become ill from the same germs as humans or can transmit germs to humans. Give pets bottled water or boiled, cooled water.

– If bottled water is not available, bring water to a boil for 1 minute. After boiling, allow water to cool before using.

– Boil tap water, even if it is filtered (e.g. through a household water filter or a jug that filters water).

– Do not use water from appliances connected to your water supply, such as ice or water from a refrigerator.

Caring for your garden and houseplants:
