Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley recreated the classic Saved By The Bell dance and then he really looked at her AC Slater style
It has been over 30 years since Saved by the bell ended, and the series is still loved by many today. The NBC sitcom featured some great dramatic moments and even more iconic scenes, with many memorable episodes, lines, and more. The reboot series on Peacock even brought in a whole new generation, as much of the original cast, who remain close to this day, returned. Just recently, Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley teamed up and recreated a classic dance that’s filled to the brim with nostalgia.
The duo played on-off couple AC Slater and Jessie Spano on the popular series, and even years after their time at Bayside High ended, they still have the moves. Lopez and Berkley performed at Fan Expo Chicago on August 17 and 18, proving that they truly are “friends forever.” The actress also shared a sweet video of her and Lopez between photoshoots on Instagram, showing a dance of SBTB, and all you really need is the music in the background and it’s like you’re back in the show:
Aside from Berkley saying, “You can take the kids out of Bayside, but you can’t take Bayside out of the ‘kids,'” Lopez went all AC Slater with the dance and wanted to take the lead. And we all know that Slater’s dance is definitely one of the highlights of Saved by the bell. He also attacked her in jest and Berkeley pointed out that she doesn’t do jiu-jitsu and that’s why she gave up so quickly.
Both Berkley and Lopez reprised their respective roles in the Saved by the bell Reboot, which was canceled in 2022 after two seasons and can still be watched with a Peacock subscription. They were the first to board the reboot, and although Jessie and Slater weren’t together in the new series, there was no denying that there was something between them. It certainly helps that the chemistry between the actors is still there even after all these years, and they stick together through thick and thin, with or without buddy bands.
Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley are not the only ones Saved by the bell Castmates who are still close. In 2023, Tiffani Thiessen revealed how close she is to her former co-stars. She noted that she sees Lopez the most, but she also has the “longest, deepest relationship” with her on-screen heartthrob Mark-Paul Gosselaar. She and Berkeley are also close, and it definitely shows in the reboot.
Unfortunately, fans cannot stream their favorite Jessie and Slater moments and see the origins of this dance because Saved by the bell is surprisingly not streaming anywhere right now. However, episodes are available to buy or rent. Although the famous sitcom hasn’t reached 100 episodes, there are still plenty of them. The reboot series is available on Peacock and offers just enough nostalgia to keep you occupied, at least for now.
