PREVIEW: Curtis Cup 2024

The biennial Curtis Cup returns this year with matches taking place from August 29 to September 1 at Sunningdale Golf Club (Old Course) in Sunningdale, England, pitting eight amateurs from the United States against eight amateurs from Great Britain and Ireland.

Sunningdale Golf Club opened in 1900 and was designed by Willie Park Jr. The club’s first professional was Jack White, who won the Open Championship in 1904.

The opening ceremony will take place on Thursday, August 29th. The games will begin on Friday, August 30th and end on Sunday, September 1st.

There will be three alternate-shot foursomes and three four-ball matches on each of the first two days of competition. There will be eight singles matches on Sunday. Each win is worth a full point, and games tied after 18 holes are worth half a point. The USA needs 10 points to defend the Cup, while GB&I needs 10.5 points to reclaim it.
