City of Taylor is subject to Level 2 water restrictions under Brazos River Authority

According to the Brazos River Authority, water restrictions in the City of Taylor are currently at Level 2.

The Level 2 Drought Warning for the East Williamson County Regional Water System (EWCRWS) at Lake Granger includes Taylor, Jonah Water SUD and the Lone Star Regional Water Authority.

In Phase 2, consumers are required to reduce their water consumption by 10% immediately.

When can I water my lawn?

On the following days, Taylor residents are allowed to water outdoors between 0:00 and 10:00 and between 20:00 and 24:00:

  • Sundays and Thursdays for street addresses ending with an even number (0,2,4,6 or 8)
  • Saturdays and Wednesdays for street addresses ending in an odd number (1, 3, 5, 7 or 9)

However, watering of green areas is permitted at any time provided it is done with a hand hose, a bucket filled from the tap or a watering can with a maximum capacity of 19 litres or a drip irrigation system.

Can I wash my vehicles?

The city states that washing vehicles is prohibited except on the watering days listed above.

Washing must be done with a bucket or hand hose equipped with a shut-off nozzle for quick rinsing.

What is forbidden?

The following uses are considered non-essential and are prohibited:

  1. Wash all sidewalks, walkways, driveways, parking lots, tennis courts and other hard surface areas.
  2. Use of water to spray buildings or structures for purposes other than immediate fire protection.
  3. Flushing gutters or allowing water to run or collect in gutters or streets.
  4. Failure to repair a controllable leak within a reasonable time after notification

In addition, all restaurants are prohibited from serving water to their guests unless they request it.

The city says it will strictly enforce these restrictions, with violations punishable by a fine of up to $500 per day per violation.
