Original cast members Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. are in talks to play their original characters Julie and Ray. In July, Brandy expressed interest in reprising the role of Julie’s roommate Karla, who survived the 1997 film’s sequel. I still remember what you did last summeralthough she had not yet been approached by production at that time.

When speaking with ET Recently, Brandy announced that she is currently in talks to join the cast of the upcoming I know what you did last summer Sequel directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and will be the fourth feature-length installment in the series. She confirmed that “they have (reported)“ after expressing interest in appearing in the project, although she is unsure “how (Karla) would come back.” Read her full quote below:

I’ve heard some things about it. So hopefully. I don’t know how (Karla) would come back. I haven’t thought about it yet. But I know she should come back. She should definitely come back. They’ve (made contact), so we’ll see what happens. I’d like that.

How might Karla appear in the sequel to “I Know What You Did Last Summer”?

The character’s whereabouts are unknown

Not many details are known about the upcoming Legacy sequel so far, so it is not known how Karla might factor into the plot. There are also No details are known about her whereabouts after she survived the 1997 filmalthough the franchise continued after this part with the direct-to-video sequel of 2006 I will always know what you did last summer and a short-lived Prime Video reboot series that ran for one season in 2021. Although the surviving characters Julie and Ray are briefly mentioned in I will always knowKarla is not mentioned at all in any of the properties.

Brandy also did not appear in the I know what you did last summer She hasn’t been cast in any role since her appearance in 1997, so the character’s fate remains a complete mystery. But before an epilogue in which Julie and Ray are once again threatened by the killer who may ultimately turn out to be a nightmare, Karla is shown hugging Julie after surviving her slasher ordeal. Although she was devastated by the death of her boyfriend Tyrell (Mekhi Phifer), otherwise she was healthy and happy.

I know what you did last summer could easily work her into the storyline of the old characters, especially if Jennifer Love Hewitt reprises her role. It’s not impossible that Julie and Karla remained friends after the events of the 1997 film, especially considering that Karla and Ray are the only surviving people Julie’s age that she has in her life. It would make perfect sense for Karla to continue to be involved in Julie’s affairs, especially if she becomes involved in another series of mysterious murders.
