Brazos River Authority introduces Stage 2 of water restrictions

The Brazos River Authority (BRA) has notified the City of Taylor that it is issuing a Level 2 Drought Warning for the East Williamson County Regional Water System (EWCRWS) at Lake Granger. This includes Taylor, Jonah Water SUD, and Lone Star Regional Water Authority.

BRA is calling on consumers to reduce their water consumption by 10% immediately.

During Phase 2, the use of water for outdoor irrigation is restricted except during the following periods:

1. Between midnight and 10 a.m. and between 8 p.m. and midnight on the following designated watering days:

  • Sundays and Thursdays for customers whose address ends with an even number (0,2,4,6 or 8)
  • Saturdays and Wednesdays for water customers whose address ends with an odd number (1, 3, 5, 7 or 9)

2. Watering of green areas is permitted at any time provided it is carried out using a hand hose, a bucket filled from the tap or a watering can with a maximum capacity of 19 litres or a drip irrigation system.

Washing of vehicles is prohibited except on the above mentioned watering days. Washing should be done with a hand bucket or hand hose equipped with a shut-off nozzle for quick rinsing. In all restaurants it is also prohibited to serve water to guests unless requested by guests.

The following uses are considered non-essential and are prohibited:

  • Wash all sidewalks, walkways, driveways, parking lots, tennis courts and other hard surface areas.
  • Use of water to spray buildings or structures for purposes other than immediate fire protection.
  • Flushing gutters or allowing water to run or collect in gutters or streets.
  • Failure to repair one or more controllable leaks within a reasonable time after receiving instructions to repair such leaks.
