What drives Rooney Mara so mad?

The 26-year-old star of “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” regularly shows off her (now tattoo-free) back in various haute couture outfits on the red carpet.

At the New York premiere of her Golden Globe-nominated film on Wednesday, Mara wore a black cocktail dress by Prabal Gurung. To the camera, she showed off the black buttoned hem on the sheer back of her thigh-length dress.

She struck a similar pose at the film’s world premiere in London on Monday. Wearing a floor-length white lace gown by Givenchy, Mara twisted her torso to reveal the low-cut back of her ethereal gown with lace sleeves.

Perhaps Vogue is responsible for Mara’s red carpet appearances? The actress made the cover of the world’s most famous fashion magazine in November, when she showed off her back in a sheer, rhinestone-embellished Ralph Lauren dress. In the magazine, she also turned away from the camera in both a backless knit top by Alexander Wang and a metallic sequin dress by Marchesa.

Mara admitted to British style magazine that she completely overhauled her wardrobe after appearing in Dragon Tattoo. “My wardrobe has completely changed,” she said. “That had to happen, partly because of my hair and partly because I didn’t feel comfortable in what I used to wear. I don’t feel comfortable in these clothes anymore because I’ve been living as Lisbeth for 14 months.”

So maybe Mara thinks she still has the huge tattoo of her alter ego Lisbeth Salander on her back and is only showing her distinctive feature? Someone has to tell her that there is nothing more. It’s just a movie!
